Points North along I-95: Follow I-95 South toward Richmond.
From I-95, take LEFT Exit 84A (I-295 South toward Rocky Mount). Follow I-295 South around Richmond.
Points Northwest along I-64: Follow I-64 East toward Richmond.
From I-64, take Exit 177 (I-295 South toward Washington / Norfolk). Follow I-295 South around Richmond.
From Richmond (I-295): From I-295, take Exit 28A (I-64 East toward Norfolk / Va Beach). Follow I-64 East to Chesapeake.
From I-64, take Exit 291B (Hwy 168 South / Hwy 17 South). Once you have taken the exit, get into the far left lanes to go onto Hwy 168 South toward Nags Head / Outer Banks. Do Not Take The Exit For Hwy 17! Follow Hwy 168 South to the North Carolina state line.
Once in North Carolina, proceed straight for about 40 miles. (Hwy 168 South will turn into Hwy 158 East along the way.)
Barrier Island Welcome Center is on the right, just after you pass Sauls Restaurant and Area Storage. We are located at 8714 Caratoke Highway, at the intersection of Hwy 158 and West Mobile Road. Look for a bright multi-colored gazebo out front, and a large billboard that reads "Black Pelican: Legendary". This is where you will check in for your Outer Banks Getaway!
If you reach the Wright Memorial Bridge, you have gone about 2 miles too far!
Late arrivals, please pick up your welcome packet in the glass enclosure by the double glass doors. Your hotel and presentation information will be enclosed in this packet. You should call us at 1-800-237-5177 to inform us if you will be arriving after hours.

From Emporia, VA and points West
(including South Hill, South Boston, Danville & Martinsville, VA)
Approximate Driving Distance (Emporia): 130 miles

Follow Hwy 58 East through Suffolk.

From Hwy 58, merge onto I-664 South toward Portsmouth / Norfolk / Va Beach.

From I-664, take Exit 15B (I-64 West toward Chesapeake / Va Beach). Follow I-64 West to Chesapeake.

From I-64, take Exit 291B (Hwy 168 South toward Great Bridge / Nags Head). Follow Hwy 168 South to the North Carolina state line.

Once in North Carolina, proceed straight for about 40 miles. (Hwy 168 South will turn into Hwy 158 East along the way.)

Barrier Island Welcome Center is on the right, just after you pass Sauls Restaurant and Area Storage. We are located at 8714 Caratoke Highway, at the intersection of Hwy 158 and West Mobile Road. From Lynchburg, VA and points West
(including Roanoke, VA)
Approximate Driving Distance (Lynchburg): 250 miles

Follow Hwy 460 East through Suffolk.

From Hwy 460, merge onto I-664 South toward Portsmouth / Norfolk / Va Beach.

From I-664, take Exit 15B (I-64 West toward Chesapeake / Va Beach). Follow I-64 West to Chesapeake.

From I-64, take Exit 291B (Hwy 168 South toward Great Bridge / Nags Head). Follow Hwy 168 South to the North Carolina state line.

Once in North Carolina, proceed straight for about 40 miles. (Hwy 168 South will turn into Hwy 158 East along the way.)

Follow Hwy 13 South toward Chesapeake / Virginia Beach.

From Hwy 13, merge onto I-64 East toward Chesapeake.

From I-64, take Exit 291B (Hwy 168 South toward Great Bridge / Nags Head). Follow Hwy 168 South to the North Carolina state line.

Once in North Carolina, proceed straight for about 40 miles. (Hwy 168 South will turn into Hwy 158 East along the way.)

From Elizabeth City, NC and points West
(including Edenton & Windsor, NC)
Approximate Driving Distance (Elizabeth City): 40 miles

From Hertford / Edenton / Windsor: Follow Hwy 17 North toward Elizabeth City.

From Hwy 17, take Exit 255 into Elizabeth City.

Go about 4 1/2 miles, then bear left at the intersection Hwy 17 & Hwy 17 Business just after passing Sawyer’s House of Furniture & Pizza Inn.

Go about 1 1/2 miles, then turn right onto Hwy 158 East toward Camden/Outer Banks.

From Elizabeth City: Follow Hwy 158 East across the bridge out of Elizabeth City.

Continue straight for about 5 miles, then bear right at the Mr. Mart to remain on Hwy 158 East.

Proceed straight for 11 miles, then bear right at the intersection of Hwy 158 & Hwy 168 to remain on Hwy 158 East toward Nags Head.

Proceed for 22 miles to Harbinger, NC.

From Greenville, NC
Approximate Driving Distance: 130 miles

Follow Hwy 13 North towards Hwy 64.

Merge onto Hwy 64 East towards Williamston.

In Williamston, take Exit 515 to remain on Hwy 64 East toward Plymouth / Manteo.

After crossing the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge onto Roanoke Island and passing Manteo, cross the Baum Bridge and bear left onto Hwy 158 West through Nags Head to Kitty Hawk.

In Kitty Hawk, cross the 3-mile-long Wright Memorial Bridge and go about 2 miles.

Barrier Island Welcome Center will be on your left just after passing Harbinger Post Office and the Harley Davidson Store. We are located at 8714 Caratoke Highway, at the intersection of Hwy 158 and West Mobile Road. Look for the multi-colored gazebo out front. This is where you will check in for your Outer Banks Get-Away!

Follow Hwy 64 East toward Plymouth / Manteo.

After crossing the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge onto Roanoke Island and passing Manteo, cross the Baum Bridge and bear left onto Hwy 158 West through Nags Head to Kitty Hawk.

In Kitty Hawk, cross the 3-mile-long Wright Memorial Bridge and go about 2 miles.

From I-40, take LEFT Exit 301 (I-440 East / Hwy 64 East toward Rocky Mount).

In Williamston, take Exit 515 to remain on Hwy 64 East toward Plymouth / Manteo.
